Is my work okay?

Hi Chris, just asking if the building of jeff wright of mine is okay? I used quite alot of time to study and grasp the concept and style for his work. I have done the 36 textures as well but I have no time time to go to the library to scan yet. This is the front and back view of my building. Please comment if you have any suggestion.

As for my givenchy building I am currently developing an organic shape to contrast it with the jeff wright building and I am creating a site plan that contains a series of footpath to connect both of the building together. I will show it to you soon.

  1. Hi Sheng. It looks like you have put quite a bit of effort into your work. I'm also pleased to hear that your design has taken inspiration from your client, but dont forget that we want to see you doing so through the use of abstracting your words you began with. Remember - this is not a competition of who can come up with the most impressive design - this is about exploring the tools we have given you (your words, your sections, the abstraction, the textures, etc) and using those to develop an idea... If that process leads to impressive architecture then you've nailed the task set, but the key word is 'develop'... I'm still not seeing you posting progress images, your textures (take a photo if you cant scan), etc... Now don't take any of this as a negative comment of your design, the design looks great, but at the moment i have no evidence of how that design grew from your original sections, words, etc.

One last thing - remember we're designing ONE architecture that will house both your clients workshops + gallery space - the spaces will inherently be different as one is above ground and one is below but not because they are separate buildings that have been connected.

Remember i want to see your PROCESS, if i just want to look at cool architecture I'll go read some architecture magazines... I want to see you learning the tools and skills we're equipping you with and see you struggle, see you find solutions, your blog should be CRAMMED with images, most of them works in progress and then just a couple of 'finished' images at the end.

See you in studio. Keep up the hard work!
    Chris

    1. I drew quite alot of sketches some are extremely messy. I have used up an entire block of A4 paper when generating my idea. Do you need the entire process? I think it would really be too much. Hahahaha
